Richard Millard Chairman & CEO Richard Millard, Chairman and CEO of Tecton Hospitality, oversees the company's business development efforts and is Tecton's majority shareholder. Mr. Millard was born in London, and at the age of 17 came to the United States to explore the wealth of opportunities that America offered. Shortly after arriving in New York he began his career in hospitality, first as a mail and information clerk on the night shift at a prestigious hotel in Rockefeller Center. Over the years, Richard worked his way through the ranks of the industry, beginning as a bellman and car park attendant in a Key Biscayne hotel and elevating himself to the lead position of General Manager. In 1984, Millard began working at Tecton Hospitality. Throughout the next decade, under Millard's leadership, Tecton successfully managed over 150 hotels for the FDIC, FSLIC, RTC and various privately held banks, savings and loans and insurance companies. In 1995 Mr. Millard became the majority shareholder and President of what is today Tecton Hospitality. Millard brings more than thirty years of experience in hotel operations to his position as Chairman of Tecton, and his start from the ground up gives him a unique appreciation and respect of the importance of every position in a hotel. Millard has proven his ability to understand and deliver successful results for owners and developers. He has earned a reputation in the industry for his affinity for providing in-depth analysis of hotel properties and creating profitable business and marketing plans as a hands-on operator. Today, as Chairman and CEO, Millard focuses on strategic issues including financing the company's growth plan and developing further strategic partnerships. The company continues to concentrate on resort and city center projects throughout the West and North into Canada. The future looks prosperous for Tecton and Desires as they forge ahead into the modern boutique hotel arena while maintaining a strong presence with franchised hotel operations. |
